Taping Equipment:
- (2) Neumann TLM-170 microphones - incredible mics.
- (2) Neumann KM-140
microphones - I love the way these things sound.
- E.A.A./AETA Audio PSP-2 Microphone
Preamp - one of the most compact and beautiful-sounding preamps out
there. Totally kicked my ass the first time I heard how it sounded with
my mics. Out of production, sadly...
- Apogee Mini-Me A/D converter - because the ones on $1500 DAT decks suck, apparently...
- Sony Vaio C1MW mini laptop - mostly used for festivals and the occasional indoor show, since I'm getting sick of laptop taping...
- Tascam DA-P1 portable DAT recorder - My main deck. Built like a
tank.
Pictures of the new rig are here. Note the Winston-Salem Police Department evidence tag on the grey case (long story...)
Miscellany:
- Samson Mixpad-4 - Used for the occasional matrix mix. When I get
good and lucky. Which means I've used it twice.
- Sony M1 portable DAT walkman - Backup deck, also used for
patching/stealthing.
- Bogen/Manfrotto 13' air-cushioned stand - Also useful as a lightweight
yet powerful beat-down stick.
Transfer Equipment consists of the following:
- Panasonic SV-3800 DAT - Got this specifically for use as a playback
deck.
- Silicon Graphics Octane - Used solely for its pristine S/PDIF
input, plus it looks nice. Also, it cost $0.
- Behringer Ultramatch - Used to remove SCMS bits (ugh) for clones and to convert 48 KHz DATs (ugh) to 44.1 KHz.
- CDWave is used to split resultant .WAV files on CD sector boundaries. It is also the only piece of Windows
software I use. . .does that make me cool?
My Collection:
Please do not offer me money for any of these tapes. I only
trade and
do B&Ps. I do not sell what I tape.
Stuff I taped is marked with a *
